The Shakespeare and Company Project has been unable to definitively identify M. Frantz. The 1921 Romainville census indicates that a Pierre Frantz (1861 – ) lived at this address. He had at least one son, Jean Philippe François (1884 – ). Further complicating matters, another family named Frantz lived next door at 109 rue de Paris, including a Pierre Marie Frantz (1896 – 1962).
