- In a 1929 letter to Sylvia Beach, Louis Leo Kramer describes his interest in Havelock Ellis and James Joyce. His World War II draft registration card lists him as a member of the Warehousemen's Union 61 in San Francisco. According to the Shakespeare and Company address books, Kramer kept Julius Meier-Graefe's Dostoevsky: The Man and His Work (1928).
